If Black tries 11. ...N3+4, then, 12. C5+4 R3=2, 13. P5+1! R2-3, 14. P5+1 R9=8, 15. R1=2 P3+1, 16. N7+5 N4+5, 17. C2=5 checkmate.

Notes & Interpretations

Playing the Pawn sideways, Red reveals the Rook in the open third file, triggering tremendous waves of crushing attacks. Now if Black plays 17. ...R8=7, 18. K5=4 threatening checkmate next move.

Views & Impressions

In this Game No.4, once again, we witness another devastating attack, spearheaded by Red's two Rooks, with the Knight and the Cannons acting the role of the vanguards. Red's Pawn play is especially intriguing. In the end, Black cannot stop the simultaneous attacks coming from the two Cannons and the two Rooks, plus the minor Rook (Pawn which is operating in the opponent's territory).
