Hong Zhi is the Champion of Champion !
In the Final of the '5-Rams Cup' tournament today, Hong Zhi drew with Xu Yinchuan in the first game in normal time session, then pressurized Xu Yinchuan in a game of sudden-death quickplay, winning on time ! The new Champion said afterwards that most of the moves have not been played by anyone anywhere before, hence there are quite many theoretical novelties.
In another contest today deciding for 3rd and 4th places, Zhao Guorong defeated Wang Yang, also going into a game of quickplay.
The '5-Rams Cup' is now in its 26th years edition, with one or two exceptions, only those players who have won the National Championships titles are invited to participate. Hong Zhi has just done that last year, now with this new victory, it is so to say a 'double strike'.
